County Highway 30A Reopens
WALTON COUNTY, Fla.— February 9, 2018—Beginning February 10, the section of County Highway 30A stretching between County Highway 83 in Blue Mountain Beach and County Highway 283 in Grayton beach will re-open for traffic. Work on the multi-use path through the same section will continue through March and April with a projected finish time of May.
The road closure was part of a project to replace a culvert across 30A that connects the north and south side of Big Redfish Lake. The road had been rebuilt after the Big Redfish Lake culvert failed in 2014 and plans were made to replace the culvert with this new bridge. This project is part of a multi-step project to replace all of the coastal dune lake culverts with bridges. Other locations where this has already taken place include Draper Lake and Oyster Lake. Plans are in place for the project to continue with Little Redfish Lake and Alligator Lake.
