Destin/Fort Walton Airport Expansion Brings Easier Travel to South Walton

February 13, 2018 – The Destin/Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) announced Tuesday morning that Allegiant Airlines will be expanding their presence at the airport with a new year-round base at VPS. The $50 million expansion will create 65 new jobs, add 5 new direct flight destinations, and is expected to generate of $400 million in tourism revenue over the next 5 years.

Allegiant Airlines CEO said of the expansion, “We are excited to continue our growth in Florida’s Emerald Coast… this is one of Allegiant’s fastest growing locations and we are excited about the mutual growth and success.”

Allegiant Airline’s expansion at VPS brings with it direct flights to Lexington, KY; Bentonville, AR; Evansville, IN; Concord, NC; and Raleigh-Durham, NC. Flights to these destinations will begin in early June and fares average around $65 each way.
