Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New South Walton Regional Beach Access
Dune Allen Beach, FL – December 10, 2019 – Today, the Walton County Tourist Development Council (TDC) and Walton County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) celebrated the grand opening of the new Dune Allen Regional Beach Access (RBA), the first regional beach access to be built in Walton County in more than a decade.
The Dune Allen RBA includes 18 parking spots, bike racks, golf cart parking, restroom facilities and a lifeguard station on the beach. The 1.51-acre property has 220 feet of beachfront and was purchased for $7.4 million in 2016, with a groundbreaking ceremony held on February 12, 2019. Two more regional beach accesses are expected to open in 2020, in Miramar Beach and Seagrove Beach. This will bring the total number of regional beach access points from eight to 11 in South Walton.
Since August 2016, the TDC has purchased seven parcels for a total of 748 feet of beachfront to be used as regional access points. The new access points come with upscale amenities funded and maintained by tourism revenue.
“If you look around like I did when I first got here, this is beautiful,” said Walton County BCC Chairman Bill Chapman at the ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday. “It turned out great. It was well-constructed. It was well laid out in my opinion. We’re glad to provide this to the community and visitors alike.”
The Dune Allen RBA is located at 5999 W County Highway 30A.
