Visit South Walton Opens Nominations for Two Upcoming Community Awards
WALTON COUNTY, Fla. — March 14, 2019— Visit South Walton is excited to announce the opening for nominations of two community award programs: The Van Ness Butler, Jr. Award, and the relaunch of our Above and Beyond Hospitality & Tourism Award.
The Van Ness Butler, Jr. award recognizes the legacy of service embodied by the Butler family, who founded the Grayton Beach Hotel and through their family’s passion, determination, and energy set the stage for the developing tourism industry. Nominees for the award are judged on their initiative, merits and innovation in achieving organizational success and on working with other community businesses or organizations to enhance Walton County’s local, national or international standing as a travel destination. Nominations are open to any person residing or working in Walton County who has been an outstanding force in promoting tourism and hospitality.
The Above and Beyond Hospitality & Tourism Award recognizes tourism professionals who go “above and beyond” to exceed customer expectations and send visitors home with warm memories of South Walton. Nominations are open to all employees who work in the tourism industry of South Walton. Nominees will be judged by the TDC Advisory Council and the winner will receive a prize pack valued at over $500 to enjoy the hospitality of area restaurants and amenities.
“We’re proud to provide the opportunity for our partners to honor one of their mentors, or shine a spotlight on an employee who does an exceptional job of improving the South Walton experience,” says Visit South Walton Director of Communications David Demarest. “Especially in the case of the newly relaunched Above and Beyond award, which offers the winner a prize package of local experiences and services, we encourage our partners to help us tell the story of the people who make South Walton so special.”
The award winners will be announced at the Walton County TDC’s Annual Meeting on May 6, 2019 during National Travel and Tourism Week celebrations.
Nominations for either award will be accepted until March 29, 2019. To learn more and make a nomination, visit: https://www.visitsouthwalton.com/south-walton-hospitality-awards
