Jan. 1 – SWFD 5th Annual Polar Plunge at Ed Walline Regional Beach Access: 1 p.m.
Be sure to dress up in your best costume and head out for the annual Polar Plunge with the South Walton Fire District. The event benefits the district’s fire and EMS public safety programs. Cost to participate is a $20 donation.

Jan. 5 – Escape to Create: Chamber Music Concert: 7:30 p.m.
Celebrate Escape to Create’s 27th season in Seaside with the Escape Ensemble Residency performance at The Rep Theatre. The next generation of international musicians from New England Conservatory of Music and Frost School of Music, The ESCAPE ENSEMBLE performs an electrifying program of Bach, Brahms, Ravel and other classical masterworks. Jan. 17: Emerald Coast Theatre Company Presents “Dancing Lessons:” 7:30 p.m.
A play by Mark St. Germain, “Dancing Lessons” is the story of Ever, a young man with Asperger’s syndrome, who seeks the instruction of a Broadway dancer to learn enough dancing to survive an awards dinner. The dancer, Senga, however, is recovering from an injury that may stop her dancing career permanently. As their relationship unfolds, they’re both caught off-guard by the discoveries—both hilarious and heartwarming—that they make about each other and about themselves.

Jan. 18-21 – 30A Songwriters Festival
Now in its 10th year, the 30A Songwriters Festival is a unique showcase of musical talent from various genres, all performing on stages throughout South Walton. The 2019 festival will feature acts like: Boukou Groove, Brandi Carlile, Charlie Mars, Chris Alvarado, Shawn Mullins and Gretchen Peters.
