WALTON COUNTY, Fla. – April, 15, 2021 – Spring is here along with fresh restaurant offerings, new events and businesses.  Here’s a list of what’s new this Spring in South Walton.

Crescendo!

Crescendo! is an exciting cultural extravaganza that benefits Sinfonia Gulf Coast and its music education and community engagement initiatives. This year's theme is Moulin [vin] Rouge: enter into a lush backdrop of all things rouge [red]. This energy-infused experience will celebrate the cultural and culinary arts by showcasing world-class vintners, expert spirit purveyors, amazing auction items, and an electrifying musical performance. Enjoy reserved table seating, hors d'oeuvres, full, seated lunch, and an all inclusive afternoon of incredible fun! The event will be capacity-controlled with social distancing and safety guidelines in place.

May 7-9

The South Walton Street Art Festival

Artists, families, friends and school groups are invited to participate in this three-day festival that will take place in Grand Boulevard’s Town Center throughout Mother’s Day weekend, May 7 - 9. The South Walton Street Art Festival calls artists of all levels and ages to be a part of the event by creating temporary street murals using only pastel chalk and their imaginations. The socially distanced festival will also feature live music by regional singer-songwriters and musicians, lawn games, a full cash bar, and all the retail and restaurant offerings for which Grand Boulevard is already known. The entire event will be free and open to the public.

30A General Store

The 30A General Store has expanded and moved into a new, larger location at the Shops at the Hub. The 30A General Store is the ideal place for vacationers to get all of their beach essentials. It has gifts, souvenirs, and every beach need from hats and sunscreen to snacks and flip flops. It's the perfect place to get everything you forgot. 

 

Adaro Art

The gallery has added 10 new artists to its expanding list of talent and revamped the gallery in time for Spring.

Get A Goober

Get A Goober is 30A’s original and only cart share service and is your local specialist in convenient and on-demand vacation transportation. Whether you’re headed to the beach as a family, need to make that special dinner reservation, or just don’t want the hassle of parking, Goober gets you there. Our eight passenger Low Speed Vehicles currently service Grayton Beach, WaterColor, Seaside and Seagrove Beach with plans very soon to expand throughout the entire length of 30A. Are you here for a special occasion? Goober gets you there too! Get A Goober offers Private Event Bookings on our seven Passenger LSV Carts as well as our dedicated 14 Passenger Shuttle Buses. No event is complete without a customized transportation solution. Get A Goober has also partnered with St. Joe Hospitality, offering wedding transportation services as well as dedicated rides for guests of the WaterColor Inn.

Jonah Allen Studio & Gallery

Allen specializes in large scale photographic art that focuses on the dynamic relationship between water and light. He has been creating his own images for over a decade since he was in his teens. He first picked up a camera when he was 14 years old and hasn’t put one down since. Allen began his career directly after college and has been represented by a few galleries in the Southeast including the Gardner Colby Gallery in Naples, Fla. and the Windsor Fine Art in New Orleans, La. His work has been featured in VIE Magazine, Northwest Florida Daily News, Luxury Travel Magazine, Memphis Magazine, 30A.com, Sotheby’s, and in Alys Beach’s Digital Graffiti where he received special recognition. His work was recently acquired by Alys Beach for the new Beach Club. The gallery will be open Monday-Friday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

 

Sculpt Studio on 30A

Centrally located in Seagrove, Sculpt Studio is a part-Fitness Studio, part-Creative Studio opened by local husband and wife, MJ and Bentley Jackson. The Fitness Studio hosts weekly Yoga Sculpt and Slow Flow classes, both indoors in its newly renovated studio, and outdoors along 30A at the Hub and Seaside Pavilion. Sculpt Studio's 45-minute workout formats merge fitness with flow and combine the effective benefits of yoga, cardio and weight training, set to upbeat music. The result is a full-body, addictive workout that will increase your energy, strength and mobility.

Uniquely Clever

Uniquely Clever mobile art offers unique art experiences for parties, corporate gatherings, fundraising, and all of your events! The WaterColor® Store Adds New Brands to Its Retail Collection

Having recently expanded its collection of retail offerings, the WaterColor® Store provides visitors and locals alike with the distinct opportunity to take the community’s iconic coastal lifestyle home with them. The store carries thoughtfully curated lifestyle products by beloved Southern retailers, jewelry by local designers and vacation-essential products by quality brands – including Lululemon, Peter Millar and (added just in time for the season) Travis Mathew and Johnnie-O. In-store and online shopping available.

 

Goodwill Big Bend Beach & Gift Store

Goodwill Big Bend celebrated its new beach and gift store in Santa Rosa Beach with a grand opening event on Friday, March 12. This boutique-style store is significant for Goodwill Big Bend as it is the first of its kind in the area, and one of just a few Goodwill retail stores in the nation to sell only new items. The Goodwill Beach and Gift store will be selling new goods such as sunglasses, sandals, coolers, and Tommy Bahama clothes at an extremely affordable price. As with all Goodwill retail locations, 86 cents of every dollar spent in the beach and gift store will be directly used to fund Goodwill Big Bend programs and services throughout the community. Donated items will not be received at this location but will continue to be received at the neighboring Santa Rosa Beach retail location. The store will be open from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. seven days a week and is located next to Goodwill’s already existing retail and donation center on Hwy 98, just west of 393.

Chef Josh Smith created a delicious and unique menu that guests are sure to enjoy, complete with dishes including Marinated Crab Claws, Seared Yellowfin Tuna Salad, a Grilled Salmon and Wakame Wrap, Chicken Provencal and more. Lunch is available for dine in and takeout Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Scratch Biscuit Kitchen Now Open in the WaterColor Town Center
Opened in February, Scratch Biscuit Kitchen serves up made-from-scratch biscuits and its own signature coffee blend in a casual, family-friendly environment that feels like a home away from home. The restaurant, located in the WaterColor Town Center, features a playful breakfast and lunch menu, house-made jams, jellies and gravies, signature blend coffee and more – all available for dine-in or to-go. Scratch Biscuit Kitchen is open daily, from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m., with counter, indoor and outdoor seating available. In an effort to seat guests more efficiently, Scratch does not accept reservations.

WaterColor Inn’s The Gathering Spot, Reimagined

The Gathering Spot at WaterColor Inn has reopened as a reimagined bar and lounge. Now featuring a revamped menu of small plates and handcrafted cocktails, the lobby bar is an inviting spot for gathering with friends in a laidback lounge setting. Cozy up to the warmth of the hotel’s poolside fire pits and enjoy drinks and shareable menu items inspired by American cuisine with a twist. Live music and specials will be offered seasonally. Open to the public; reservations are not accepted. Free valet for all guests. Hours vary seasonally.

 

Frozen Dune Rolled Ice Cream & Coffee

Visit the first rolled ice cream shop in South Walton at Frozen Dune Rolled Ice Cream & Coffee. Enjoy this unique frozen treat with a cup of coffee or a smoothie. Sushi rolls are also on the menu.

 

LaCo

Formerly known as La Cocina, LaCo at Seacrest Beach is now open for brunch after rebranding and undergoing extensive renovations. The brunch menu is available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, and boasts Latin-inspired, coastal cuisine with fresh seafood and local ingredients. The menu gives guests a different type of brunch experience and includes dishes such as Lobster Avocado Toast, Sweet Potato Breakfast Hash, Pan de Platano featuring brioche banana bread, espresso cream and mixed berry crumble, as well as Chilaquiles Rojo, a traditional Mexican breakfast dish.

New “Lounge” at Havana Beach Bar & Grill Provides Cozy Tropical Hideaway

The Pearl Hotel’s hallmark AAA Four-Diamond restaurant, Havana Beach Bar & Grill, now offers an additional dining experience. The Havana Beach Lounge provides an intimate and casual hideaway ideal for sharing a menu of small plates, pre-dinner cocktails or both. Nestled within the restaurant’s main dining room, the cozy and tropical hideaway-inspired Lounge feels tucked away in Old Havana. Just as the restaurant draws its inspiration from Ernest Hemingway’s colorful and storied old-town Havana haunt, El Floridita, so too does the Lounge give a nod to its warmth and style. The Havana Beach Lounge is open daily, 9 a.m. – 10 p.m.; hours may vary seasonally.

Amavida’s Green Tea Lavender Lemonade

Not only is it delicious, but it is delightful to watch the drink be made. The color changes as the ingredients interact resulting in a delightful purple infusion.

Just in time for the busier spring and summer months, FOOW (located at WaterColor Inn) and Scratch Biscuit Kitchen (located in the WaterColor Town Center) are offering convenient online ordering. Online orders are for Pickup only and may be scheduled for a specific date/time or for ASAP. The restaurants’ full menus are available for online ordering – making all beach cravings a reality!

New Accommodation Updates and Renovations

Hotel Effie is a new full-service hotel located within the Sandestin Golf and Beach resort and includes a Celebrity Chef led restaurant (Ovide), a lobby bar, room service, a luxury spa, a fitness facility and a signature rooftop pool and bar. In addition to these amenities, the four-star hotel will feature over 20,000 feet of meeting space and feature a 13,000 square foot ballroom. Opened Feb. 1, 2021.
